The current COVID crisis and lockdown has created many challenges for us all. Whilst lockdown is easing, the last few months of quarantine and relative isolation have led to new pressures for the families, carers and loved ones of those with addiction issues.
We at Rebound have continued to provide support for anyone that needs it through our telephone hotline, and we have increased our Group Support Meetings from fortnightly to weekly – albeit online via Zoom – to ensure that advice and guidance is available when needed.
As we move out of lockdown, we are intending to reinstate our fortnightly face-to-face Group Support Meetings at the Portsmouth Carers Centre as soon as it is safe to do so. We will continue to offer Support Meetings via Zoom on weeks when we are not meeting in person, either monthly or fortnightly, depending on demand. Watch this space for details.
In the meantime, we are planning on delivering our new Play, “I Can’t Stop!”, to schools in the Portsmouth and Hampshire areas from early 2021 to ensure that the message about the dangers of addiction and the impact on families and loved ones is received by as many young people as possible as soon as possible.
In common with many small charities, we are finding that sources of funding are becoming increasingly limited in the current climate, whilst we continue to incur running costs. We are grateful to our current financial backers for their support, but we are conscious that we might not be able to rely on such support in the longer term as budgets become tighter and priorities change.
We would, therefore, be grateful for YOUR support! If you are able to make a charitable donation to us, this is very simple to do via the Facebook Donate feature. You will find a nice, friendly Donate button at the top of our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ReboundGroup/) – if you are able to, please use it! And if you are planning a fundraiser to coincide with a birthday or anniversary, please consider Rebound as your beneficiary charity! Alternatively, please consider purchasing a Portsmouth Lottery ticket – https://www.portsmouthlottery.co.uk/support/rebound-carers-support-group
Thank you for your continues support.
