Fiona Allen of Caritas Portsmouth will be speaking at our meeting on Tuesday 26th November.
Caritas had its origins in Germany in 1897. Since the Second World War Caritas has a presence in over 200 countries. It is an agency for Social Action, existing to improve the organisation or integration of social action in the Diocese of Portsmouth, as well as assisting in the initiating of new projects. The focus of the social action is in areas where the needs are greatest, reaching out to the most vulnerable in society. Its present projects include the INSIGHT mental health drop-in centre at the Cathedral in Portsmouth, and a children’s holiday club in Southampton.
Fiona and a team of volunteers are working hard to support vulnerable families in Portsmouth.
Fiona also worked with the Salvation Army at Hope House supporting service users.
All welcome.
