Fiona Allen came to our meeting on Tuesday 26th November to talk about her work with Caritas and previously as a support worker at Hope House.
She is passionate about making a difference to vulnerable people and disaffected families, and works tirelessly to seek funding for various projects in the community to support this passion. Fiona did some excellent work at Hope House when the Salvation Army had the contract, setting up various activities for service users, including a poetry workshop.
Fiona also shared the story of her difficut past and, due to her groupwork skills, was able to offer empathetic support to our members.
We really hope she will come back and visit us again to update us on any new ventures she may have started.

We received the following comment from one of our members after the meeting:
Fiona Allen was an honest, passionate and enthusiastic lady. Her past was a true revelation that hit home to us all. It proves to me that no one can justify being involved in her kind of work – we have to be in a position to have experienced the pain, the frustration and the hopelessness of our own power to change anybody just because we want it to be fact.
It would be lovely for her to come back from time to time if it is possible. Thank you for inviting her to speak with us.
