We recently had a presentation by Mark, Benn and Rachael from PUSHing Change at one of our regular Tuesday evening Group Support Meetings. A full review of the evening appears elsewhere in this blog.
Evaluation Forms were circulated to all those that attended the evening – here are a selection of the comments we received:
- The talks gave me an insight into what is going on in the head of the person in recovery. Understanding helps the family member better able to know what action would help most
- It was very helpful hearing how recovery is possible and what may trigger that desire to recover and stop taking their drug of choice that they seem to love above all else
- I really enjoyed listening to their stories / views on receovery, including the ups and downs. Also understanding how their families’ role in their recoveries lacked too much help played out in their stories
- I understand now that I am enabling my daughter and that I am not alone
- It was interesting to hear the experiences of the visitors and gives me a better understanding of my son’s addictions. It was very brave of them to share and be so open and honest
- I found the evening very interesting indeed
- It is always encouraging to hear success stories and the awareness they feel for the heartache they have caused during their years of addiction. It resurrects the feelings of hope
- Enjoyable talk. Would have liked more information from their younger years, how it all started, etc.
- Informed, and a reality check as to why and how people can become involved with addiction. How emotions can impact on this.
We are planning more guest speakers over the coming months, on a variety of subjects. Keep an eye on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages for details.
